Both! Our patented midsole changes shape between flat and heel mode. In flat mode, it is flat and flexible. In heel mode, it is stiff, stable and supports the arch of your foot. We also use padding for a soft cushion feel as you walk.

Never! Our mechanisms are made from some of the strongest steels on earth and firmly lock in place. They are also bolted to the shoe. Your heels aren't going anywhere (until you want them to fold).

It depends on the surface it is walked on. The rubber we use is very durable so most marks can be rubbed off with a wet towel. Faint marks will develop with frequent use - in that case a replacement movable, sole-piece is available for purchase.

Not at all! The inside of our shoes are reinforced (like other fine constructed flat shoes) so you do not feel the heel at all when it is stored.
